Health Care Initiatives
There are 3 health centers established, one each at Munoli, Kokatnur and at  Havalga.  Qualified and experienced medical officers are posted at these health centers.  Health centers serve the employees, their dependants, farmers, sugarcane harvesting workers and the general population as well in the vicinity of each SRSL unit.  On an average around 50 patients attend as OPDs, daily.  There are beds provided for day care including the facility for  ECG, blood, sugar monitoring.  Patients requiring higher treatment, are referred to the specialists at Taluka Headquarters and/or to KLE Hospital at Belgaum.

Mini Camps and Multi-Diagnostic Camps
Mini camps and multi-diagnostic camps were held at the health centers and at the notified centers covering cluster of villages. The camps included maternal and child health, cardiovascular, eye camps.
 
 
Medical Officers are also responsible for the hygiene and sanitation of not only the SRSL units, but also the villages that feed cane to the sugar factories. 3-4 health awareness programmes covering imurisation, maternal and child health, communicable diseases, cancer awareness, HIV and AIDS awareness, H1N1 enfluenza, Dengu fever were conducted. The health camps and the health education programmes are conducted in association with either governmental or non-governmental organizations.
 
The 50 bedded hospital is planned at remote Havalga village in Gulbarga district with all specialty services and high tech diagnostic facilities.
 
At each Health Center, the Hospital Development Committee is established to monitor and advise the further developments.

Hi Tech Diagnostic Center, Athani
The Hi Tech Diagnostic Center at Taluka Headquarters at Athani in Belgaum district with an investment of Rs.1.5 crores, is one of its kind, in 100 KMs radius.  This Center renders   pathology, biochemistry, micro biology and radiological investigations including, Fuji SR, X Ray, Ultra Sonography and CT scan. Cardiology investigations are carried out such as ECG, Eco-Cardiography and TMT machines.  The Center has full time Radiologists and Pathologists available for round the clock diagnostic services. Two Cardiologists visit the Center every week.  The Center will soon have other super specialities that include Neurology, Neonatology, Pediatric Surgeon, IVF Specialists, for consultation. The Center extends 25% flat concession to the farmers of surrounding villages on all the investigations done at the Center. The discount is also given to the employees of SRSL Units, the sugarcane harvesting workers and referring Doctors.  The medical practitioners and people of surrounding villages of Athani,  have appreciated this endeavour and are thankful for having taken hi tech diagnostic services to their doorsteps.
 
Responding to the demand of local medical fraternity and the population, the SRIRDR has purchased Two Ambulances, one for Havalga in Gulbarga district and another at Athani in Belgaum district. The ambulance is well equipped with trained manpower. The ambulance service is dedicated to serve the cause of the doctors and the general population at subsidized rates.
 
 
A Monitoring Committee oversees and advises the functioning of the Center. The membership include local IMA President and Secretary.
